Major Lighting Retrofit Decreases Energy Consumption by 60%
The 600,000 square foot cold/freezer storage distribution warehouse contains food and supplies for 10 local restaurant chains. This lighting retrofit involved replacing the existing 400W metal halide fixtures with 271 new, 6-lamp T8 high-bay fixtures. In the cold storage rooms, the new fixtures are equipped with motion sensors, which are set on 30-minute timers and activate one at a time, when personnel walk down the aisle. The old fixtures, including the ballasts, lamps and metal were recycled.
